Impressive as QXO's purchase of Kodiak Building Partners may be, it shouldn't blot out mention of 11 other acquisitions in construction supply over the first six weeks of 2026.
Of those others, the biggest by far was White Cap Construction Supply's purchase of Colony Hardware, a tool specialist with 58 locations. White Cap is regarded by some observers as being a potential target of Brad Jacobs' QXO. Its purchase of Colony Hardware could be part of an effort to bulk up the company, just as Foundation Building Materials grew dramatically during the year before it was purchased by Lowe's.
As of Feb. 17, Webb Analytics' Deals Database has recorded 12 transactions by 12 different buyers that together took over 189 facilities. There also have been 48 locations that already have opened as greenfields or are scheduled to do so this year. Ditto for 17 facility closures.
Among other deals:
Ganahl Lumber expanded into San Diego County for the first time by buying Pine Tree Lumber, a two-yard outfit with stores in Escondido and Fallbrook, CA.
Johnson Paint, a division of Ring's End Lumber, bought Somerset Paint in Swansea and Dartmouth, MA.
Southeast Building Supply Interests grew to 11 locations by acquiring Alpha Lumber of Montgomery, AL. This will be SBSI's second store in Alabama.
Aubuchon Ace purchased Depault Hardware of Cumberland, RI.
Sticks & Stuff took over Wheeler Building Materials of Lyndonville, VT.
In a deal involving five Florida stores, Heritage Landscape Supply Group, a subdivision of The Home Depot's SRS Distribution, bought Big Earth Supply.
Lake Mills (IA) Lumber changed hands, with Casey Schumaker and Chris Bertelson buying out the Helgeson family.
In the year's first deal, Builders FirstSource acquired two truss yards in New York State from Premium Building Components.
