LBM Consolidation Watch: Number of 3Q Deals Keeps Pace, But Locations Acquired Are Way Down

The LBM M&A market heads toward the final three months of 2026 following a 3rd Quarter that featured close to the usual number of transactions but for far fewer facilities.

The first three months of 2026 saw 27 deals for 262 facilities, according to Webb Analytics' database. The action peaked in the 2nd Quarter, in which 33 transactions captured 511 facilities. Then came a 3rd Quarter with 23 deals to date--not far from the other quarters--but only 83 locations acquired.

There also have been 138 facilities that have opened so far or are slated to by year's end. And 78 locations have closed.

The most significant 3rd Quarter deal never got a press release: Builders FirstSource's acquisition of Gleckler & Sons, a combination lumberyard, truss operation, and millwork company with 11 locations from Jacksonville to Tampa.

In other deals:

• Contract Lumber bought HT Building Products, which has branches in Houston and Dallas.

• Kuiken Bros. expanded for the first time in quite a while, buying Paramus Building Supply of Paramus and Bergenfield, NJ.

• ABC Supply took over Martini Brick Sales of Corpus Christi, TX.

• Riverhead Building Supply acquired Contractor Express of Oceanside, NY.

• Decks & Docks expanded into the Birmingham market by purchasing Wilson Building & Outdoor Supply in Alabaster, AL.

• GMS, now part of The Home Depot's SRS Distribution, grew in Washington State by acquiring Evergreen Building Products of Renton, Marysville, Spokane, and Tumwater.

• Then there's Kodiak Interiors Group, the division of Kodiak Building Partners that became its own operation not long before the rest of Kodiak was sold to QXO. Kodiak Interiors Group bought Mountain Land Design, a seven-branch appliance store with locations in Salt Lake City and Provo, UT; Boise and Ketchum, ID; and Jackson, WY.
