How Active Is LBM in Social Media? Here's a Clue



How involved are dealers in social media today? To answer that question, Webb Analytics asked the Google Gemini artificial intelligence service to review Webb Analytics' database of construction supply companies and then search the Internet to learn which social media formats they use.


From that analysis, Google Gemini identified 1,432 companies in the Webb Analytics database that sold lumber, roofing, or siding, thus suggesting they are pro dealers. Google found another 846 companies that sold hardware but didn't sell lumber, roofing, or siding. Those two collections cover virtually all the noteworthy operations serving pro and retail customers today, from The Home Depot down to small, single-branch independents.


For each of those two groups, the chart above shows the percentage that have sites on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and X (formerly Twitter).
