M&A Dealmakers Crawl Into the 4th Quarter

How quiet is LBM's M&A market? There hasn't been a noteworthy acquisition announced since Sept. 1, when Builders FirstSource said it purchased the 11-unit, Florida-based Gleckler & Sons Building Supplies.
That addition means we now have seen 826 locations change hands so far this, according to Webb Analytics' database. That's far behind the 1,825 locations acquired in all of 2025 and 1,160 taken over in all 2024.
On the other hand, there have been roughly a dozen openings:
CFE Lumber set up shop in Hawarden, IA.
ABC Supply opened new roofing outlets in Hattiesburg, MS, and Royse City, TX.
ABC Supply Interiors, the drywall arm formerly known as L&W Supply, opened in Chandler, AZ.
Lowe's expanded with a new home center in Walton, KY, while The Home Depot planned to open this month a home center in Lecanto, FL.
New hardware stores opened in Stow, OH; Pullman, WA; Hot Springs, AR.
The Home Depot's SRS Distribution put two branded GMS stores into the same location in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. One was D.L. Building Materials, a gypsum specialist, while the other was Peridot Supply, a roofing specialist.
