Aside from the SRS-Home Depot Purchase, LBM's Recent M&A Action Features Deals by BFS, US LBM, Kodiak, R.P., and Gulfeagle

Creating pins for the roughly 770 locations involved in The Home Depot's purchase of SRS Distribution would easily obscure all the other action taking place in LBM's M&A market, so that deal gets black dots on the map above. What's left are locations of 159 facilities acquired, 112 greenfields (30% of which have yet to open), and 21 closures. That's a lower count compared with the 210 locations purchased by this time last year, but the number of actual greenfields is about the same. There have been 62 different deals involving 41 buyers.

Among the recent deals:

  • Builders FirstSource added yet another truss plant, this time Hanson Truss of Olivehurst, CA. It also bought Schoeneman's Building Materials Centers, a four-store operations serving the Sioux Falls, SD, metro area.

  • US LBM also added truss operations. This time it was the Better Built Truss facilities in Ripon and Oakdale, CA.

  • R.P. Lumber acquired Mount Carroll (IL) Home Center as well as Custer (SD) Do it Best Hardware & Lumber.

  • Nation's Best Holdings took in Gambles Hardware of Hotchkiss, CO.

  • Kodiak Building Partners acquired Valley Lumber & Rental in Victor, ID.

  • Gulfeagle Supply purchased Elite Roofing Supply, which has 26 stores, mainly in California, Arizona, and Colorado.

  • Beacon Building Products grew by five units with its acquisition of General Siding Supply, which has stores in Nebraska, Iowa, and North Dakota.

  • GMS bought Howard & Sons, a gypsum dealer in Pomona, CA.

  • Ace Retail Holdings, the Ace Hardware Corp. division that owns Westlake Ace Hardware and Great Lakes Ace, acquired Bishop Ace Hardware, a 13-store chain in Illinois. The companies will continue to operate under the Bishop name.

  • Westlake Ace bought one of America's oldest hardware stores: Clarks Ace Hardware, of Ellicott City and Columbia, MD.

  • SiteOne Landscape Supply did two deals. The first was for Devil Mountain Wholesale Nursery, which has eight locations in California. The other deal was for Eggemeyer Land Clearing of New Braunfels, TX.
